While many sea animals produce exoskeletons, usually only those of mollusks are normally considered to be “sea shells”. Shells will grow over time as the animal inside adds its building material to the leading edge near the opening. This causes the shell to become longer and wider to better accommodate the growing animal inside.
Each species of mollusk animal will build the external shell in specific shape, pattern, ornamentation and color. Mollusk shells are very durable and often outlast the animal that produced them by thousands of years.

Bronze in pink tones of Silver over Copper (some with pink rhodochrosite) or,

gold tones of Gold over Silver (some with Amazonite) and freshwater pearls.
